Year End Update!!

It was the 1st April 2006 when I started this project and to be honest I thought I had gotten off to a good start but when I look at what I have achieved and what I have actually crossed off my list in the last nine months it does not seem that much. To me it seems that I have neglected this site for most of the year so maybe that is why I decided to do an update at the end of the year.

In fact I have only crossed off five items from my list –

58. Complete EDCL Level 3 Word course
63. Create a sub site for this project.
69. Complete EDCL Level 3 Access course
77. Visit a continental market
79. Visit Llyn Llech Owain country park

But I am well on my way to completing the following –

1. To watch all of the AFI top 100 films.
2. To watch all of the BFI top 100 films.
3. To watch all of the IMDB top 250 films.
(Out of the 367 films that I need to watch to be in a position to complete the above three tasks I have currently watched only 42.)
41. Create at least 50 handmade cards [16/50]
(I set myself the task of creating 50 handmade cards and I am pretty sure when I finalise all the cards I made and sent out for Christmas I should be able to cross this off)

So I still have another 728 days left to complete the remaining tasks I set myself.

General Update

It’s been ages since I last updated this sub section of the site and I have not forgotten about my 101 things to do in 1001 days. Things have just been very hectic in my life lately and I have not had a lot of time to do many of the things on the list, not that I had planned on doing a great deal of them during the summer, I think the thing I am most disappointed about is the lack of progress I have been making with my list of the various top films, I had hoped being such a film fanatic I would have watched a lot more but again been busy and not had the opportunity. I am however hoping to add some new tasks to my list in the vacant spaces I purposefully left at the end.

# 69 – Complete EDCL Level 3 Access course

I really did not think that I would complete much of the advanced ECDL course seeing as I only joined the class in the middle of February after everyone else had started the previous September. Needless to say I sped through the Word module taking that test before the Easter holidays and once we returned I started on the Access module with a few others from the class. What with half term and me getting a job I really did not think that I would be in a position to sit the database exam before the college closed for the summer holidays. I did however manage to switch to an evening class and sat the exam during the last session before the college broke up and today I received my certificate so two down two more to go!

May Update

May is finally over and I really don’t feel that I have done a great deal towards achieving many of the 101 things. Over the last month I managed to watch a further six films from my various lists and completed two actual things. Looking at things however there are quite a few little things which are being done towards achieving other things from the list, such as my card making.

# 77 – Visit a continental market

A continental market has been held in Carmarthen this weekend and I thought I would take the time to explore it and try out some of the food and drink available from other parts of Europe. Okay it would be a lot cheaper to buy similar products from the local supermarket as my mother was quick to point out but I felt that would be a waste to not enjoy what was on offer at the market. I did notice that some of the stallholders were not really selling anything that I considered to be “continental” but there were more than a few stalls manned by foreigners offering samples of their wares.

I did notice that the stall selling biscuits from Brittany and the chocolates from Belgium but the prices were ridiculously expensive. I worked it out that only a few biscuits would cost me £3.50, they may have been handmade but I have better things to spend my money on and spend it I did.

Ended up getting some pear cider and some items from the French stall, which had been freshly baked and there really is nothing better than freshly baked pastries.

# 58 – Complete EDCL Level 3 Word course

I arrived in college yesterday afternoon to be told by the tutor that I had passed the first of the four modules of the advanced ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) course in Word. Not bad seeing as I took the test after only four weeks in the class. Unfortunately I will not get to know my final mark all I do know is that I would have achieved more that 76%.

Hopefully the certificate will arrive soon but in the meantime I have already started on the next module which is databases and Access, I’m hoping to sit the exam for this before college breaks up for summer but we’ll have to see how I get on.

April Update

Well the first month of this project has passed and I thought it would be a good idea to look back at the past month to see how I have gotten on. You may notice that my list of things to do is still not complete, I have 91 of the 101 things and have decided that as I still have 971 days left and so much can change in that time it would be prudent for me to keep some “spare” slots. These 10 unassigned “slots” will eventually be filled hopefully when things in my life have changed.

So far I have completed 2 of my tasks and have watched 31 movies out of the 367 that I need to watch to complete tasks 1, 2 and 3.

# 79 – Visit Llyn Llech Owain Country Park

Llyn Llech Owain Country Park

One of the first times I have not been forced to work over the Easter weekend and I decided not to waste this opportunity as the sun was shining and the sky was blue to get out and see a little part of the world. This part of the world is only a 20 minute drive from me, yet I have never been to Llyn Llech Owain country park.

I remedied this on Good Friday when I went there for the afternoon and took a walk around the park.

The main feature of the park is the lake, which is surrounded by a peat bog but with its network of paths through the coniferous woodland, dry heath and broad leaved woodland it is a perfect location for walking and nature lovers.

Movie Madness

I’ve been asked why I have set myself the task of watching so many movies over the 1001 day period, I believe that all the lists add up to the 375 mark. I decided to do this as I have always had a love of films and thought this would be a good opportunity to watch films I may never watch otherwise.

Looking at the movie list, I can already see films that I own that I will get around to watching again and also films that I would not normally take the time to watch, so this is one of those tasks that I think will last the whole 1001 days.

#63 – Create a sub site for this project

With just under a week already passed since I began this I still have not managed to come up with 101 things that I hope to do over the next 1001 days. I have in the last few days added a few more things to my list but it seems strange to decide on things to do/achieve over such a long length of time.

I have managed to achieve one item of my list and that was to create a sub site for the project, okay I used a prepared theme adding my own photo, which I took today and added a starburst.
